PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy has a reputation for being deeply serious and impressive, difficult and so profound that is only accessible to some enlighten ones. But the big ambition to understand ourselves and transform the world through ideas is to anyone's reach.  Without loosing profoundness lets demystify philosophy unreachability.

Atheism 2.0

What aspects of religion should atheists (respectfully) adopt?

Alain de Botton suggests a "religion for atheists" -- call it Atheism 2.0 -- that incorporates religious forms and traditions to satisfy our human need for connection, ritual and transcendence.

What is PHILOSOPHY?

Today Hank begins to teach you about Philosophy by discussing the historical origins of philosophy in ancient Greece, and its three main divisions: metaphysics, epistemology, and value theory. He will also introduce logic, and how you’re going to use it to understand and critically evaluate a whole host of different worldviews throughout this course. And also, hopefully, the rest of your life.

The Wisdom of Space

"It’s normally unpleasant to be made to feel small (by a boss or a waiter in a smart establishment), but to be made to feel small by something so much more majestic and powerful than we are has something redeeming and enhancing about it. The image of the globular cluster is sombre, rather than sad; calming, but not despair inducing. "

ARISTOTLE

Aristotle was the master of virtues.

His ethics, though always influential, gained renewed interest with the modern advent of virtue ethics. All aspects of Aristotle's philosophy continue to be the object of active academic study today.
